Almost half a million foreign passengers arrive by air in Puerto Vallarta

The traffic of foreign passengers at Puerto Vallarta Airport has experienced a significant increase in the first two months of the current year, with a total of 992,500 travelers, representing an 11.3 percent increase compared to the same period last year. During February of this year, specifically, a notable increase in the flow of international passengers was observed, reaching over 493,000 travelers, in contrast to the 431,100 recorded in February 2023, also indicating an 11.3 percent increase according to the monthly report provided by the Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP).

Regarding the domestic market, traffic of 168,500 visitors was recorded last month, reflecting a decrease of 8.2 percent compared to the same period last year, where 183,500 passengers were counted. However, in the accumulated period from January to February, nearly 370,000 domestic passengers were counted, indicating a positive trend despite the monthly decline.

Combining both markets, the total number of passengers passing through Puerto Vallarta International Airport in February of this year slightly exceeded 622,000, while in the accumulated two months of the year, the figure surpasses 1,360,000 visitors to this destination.

On the other hand, according to the GAP report, the 12 Mexican airports in operation registered a 1.1 percent increase in total passenger traffic during February 2024 compared to the same month of the previous year. In particular, the airports of Puerto Vallarta, Guanajuato, Los Cabos, and Guadalajara experienced growth rates of 7.7 percent, 5.3 percent, 1.7 percent, and 0.6 percent respectively, compared to February 2023.

These data demonstrate that Puerto Vallarta continues to stand out both in hotel occupancy and in air passenger traffic compared to other destinations.
