Puerto Vallarta further cemented its reputation as a prominent destination for sports tourism with the successful completion of its 8th annual Shore Fishing Tournament, known as Surfcasting Vallarta. The event, organized by Deportes Gutiérrez Rizo and supported by the local government led by Mayor Luis Munguía González, took place along the Malecón, attracting numerous participants and spectators.

The tournament, which took place on Sunday morning, offered over 100,000 pesos in prizes to the top anglers. The first 150 registered participants also received a commemorative t-shirt. The atmosphere along the Malecón was described as family-friendly and enthusiastic, blending the tradition of fishing with a competitive sporting event and community spirit.

The first-place prize of 70,000 pesos was awarded to Carlos Bobadilla, a resident of the Las Juntas delegation, for his catch weighing 10.7 kilograms, which was subsequently released. Guillermo Ledezma secured second place with a 6-kilogram snook, and Uriel Delgadillo took third place with a 2-kilogram catch.
