Puerto Vallarta is among the five safest cities in the country and experienced a significant increase in hotel occupancy in 2023 compared to 2022. Christian Salvador Preciado Cázares highlighted records at the airport, cruise visits, and ecotourism excursions, with over 500,000 people enjoying port activities. The city saw a growth of 3.9%, surpassing 5 million people, generating an economic impact of 64,472 million pesos until October, a 6% increase from the previous year.

Puerto Vallarta leads among destinations, with 33,997 million pesos in economic impact, followed by Guadalajara. Tourist influx in Jalisco increased by 12% until October, with 28 million 373 thousand visitors. Hotel occupancy reached 78.5%, establishing Puerto Vallarta as the national leader in this aspect. In 2023, 142 international cruises arrived, carrying 456,435 passengers, a 50% increase compared to 2022. The shipping industry represents 9% of tourists arriving at the port. According to INEGI, the average spending of a cruise tourist was $80.64, a 6.8% increase compared to 2022.
