Puerto Vallarta stands out as one of the most popular destinations among Americans to enjoy their winter vacations, according to the latest annual survey by the travel insurance company Allianz Partners. The research, which assessed over 3.1 million travel plans, revealed a significant increase in the preference for international destinations during the holiday season, representing 21% of bookings compared to the previous year’s 11%.
Mexico, and specifically the beaches of Puerto Vallarta, hold a prominent position in the preferences of American travelers, surpassing destinations such as the Bahamas, France, and Aruba. Luis Antonio Villaseñor Nolasco, the general director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, highlighted that the unique combination of beaches, local culture, and unmatched hospitality has turned the city into a popular haven for those seeking to escape the cold and immerse themselves in a tropical paradise.
The exceptional connectivity, with over 40 direct air routes to and from the Puerto Vallarta International Airport, has contributed to privileged accessibility for visitors from the North American market. According to data from the Pacific Airport Group (GAP), the Puerto Vallarta International Airport experienced an 8.6% increase in international passengers in November compared to the same month the previous year, consolidating a 10.4% increase in air passenger traffic during the period from January to November compared to the previous year.
