Puerto Vallarta to host the Spring Jazz Festival

Puerto Vallarta to host the Spring Jazz Festival

From March 18th to 22nd, the bustling waterfront of Los Muertos will be infused with the vibrant chords of jazz, marking the start of the twenty-eighth edition of the Spring Jazz Festival. This time around, the festival will be dedicated to honoring the distinguished musical career of Willow Brizio, a pioneer of the genre in Guadalajara and later in Puerto Vallarta.

At a press conference, Beverly Moore, Brizio’s wife and a prominent jazz vocalist in the city, along with Alex Martínez Gil, another talented musician and one of the festival’s founders, and Oscar Carlos Vázquez, the operational director of Cuates y Cuetes, the event’s official venue, enthusiastically announced the details of the upcoming festival.

The event will kick off on Monday, March 18th at 4:00 p.m. and will continue every afternoon until March 22nd. Over five consecutive days, attendees will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of jazz, with artists hailing from various parts of Mexico, as well as the United States and Canada, in addition to showcasing the best of Vallarta’s local talent. This cultural event, entirely free of charge, is a tribute to music created by and for the community of Puerto Vallarta.

This year, the festival will be extended for more days to accommodate the large number of participating musicians. Each day, attendees can delight in performances by approximately five different bands, which will come together at the end of the day for a collective improvisation, thus celebrating the collaborative and spontaneous nature of jazz.

As customary, the festival’s highlight will be on March 21st, with a spectacular beach concert next to the iconic Los Muertos pier, starting at 2:00 p.m. As the evening approaches, a traditional ceremony will be held to welcome the spring, including a pre-Hispanic dance ritual and an energy cleansing, providing an opportunity to rejuvenate energies during this season change.

The Puerto Vallarta Spring Jazz Festival is more than just a musical gathering; it is a celebration of music as an expression of emotions and feelings. For both local residents and foreign visitors, this annual event is an eagerly awaited tradition. Admission is free every day, with the option to enjoy the cuisine of the host restaurant during the performances.
