During the first half of 2023, Puerto Vallarta International Airport welcomed over 3.6 million national and international passengers, indicating a 17.2% increase compared to the same period in 2022, according to the monthly report from Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico (GAP). In June, Puerto Vallarta experienced an air passenger traffic of 260,000 in the domestic market, which was a 12.6% rise from the same period in 2022. From January to June 2023, the total number of tourists surpassed one million.
Regarding the international market, the airport received nearly 248,000 passengers last month, which was lower than the 273,900 passengers in 2022. However, the accumulated number of tourists in the first six months of 2023 has already exceeded 2.26 million.
In June, two new routes were inaugurated: the Guadalajara-Puerto Vallarta route operated by Volaris and the Los Angeles-Puerto Vallarta route operated by JetBlue.
For June 2023, the total number of terminal passengers at the 12 Mexican airports managed by GAP increased by 12.3% compared to the same period in 2022. Guadalajara, Tijuana, Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta experienced passenger traffic growth of 20.6%, 10.9%, 7.4%, and 0.6% respectively, compared to June 2022.
The number of available seats in June 2023 increased by 15.9% compared to June 2022. However, the occupancy rates decreased from 82.3% in June 2022 to 79.6% in June 2023.
