Vallarta’s Hotel Occupancy Exceeds 80% in Q1 of 2024

In the first quarter of 2024, Puerto Vallarta’s hotel occupancy soared, reflecting a robust start to the year for Mexico’s tourism industry. According to data from the Tourism Ministry (Sectur), the hotel occupancy rate in Puerto Vallarta reached an impressive 81.5% during this period. This figure represents a slight increase over the same timeframe in 2023 and outperforms the national average of 60.9%.

The rising influx of tourists contributed significantly to this positive trend. The national statistics agency INEGI reported an almost 11% surge in international visitors to Mexico in March 2024 compared to the same month the previous year. This boost in arrivals translated into higher hotel occupancy rates across the country, with beach resorts enjoying a 71.1% occupancy rate in Q1.

Among the top-performing tourist destinations, Puerto Vallarta ranked favorably. Its occupancy rate of 81.5% places it alongside other popular locations such as Playacar (92.9%), Nuevo Nayarit (86.7%), Akumal (84.4%), Cabo San Lucas (83%), and Cancún (81.8%)1. With its stunning coastal views, vibrant culture, and diverse attractions, Puerto Vallarta continues to be a sought-after destination for travelers seeking sun, sand, and relaxation.
