Puerto Vallarta, the picturesque coastal haven along Mexico’s Pacific shoreline, has reached a remarkable milestone in its dedication to preserving its natural surroundings and the excellence of its beaches. In the 2023-2024 season, it has secured six Blue Flag Distinctions, a testament to the quality and sustainability of its coastal areas.
This accomplishment signifies a noteworthy progression in Puerto Vallarta’s efforts to regain its reputation as a Blue Flag beach destination. Four of its beaches had already earned this distinction and have now successfully renewed their certifications. Furthermore, two new beaches in the Marina Vallarta vicinity have fulfilled all the rigorous criteria necessary to attain this highly sought-after recognition.
During a gathering of the National Blue Flag Jury for Mexico in the 2023-2024 season, comprehensive evaluations were conducted for a total of 64 beaches, 2 marinas, and 31 sustainable tourism vessels nationwide. In addition to reviewing renewal applications, 11 fresh applications were submitted from 9 beaches and 2 sustainable tourism vessels.
